Jill is a homegrown Long Island girl born in Port Jefferson.
Her favorite things are Blue skies, fresh air, long walks, ocean breezes, laughter and naps in a hammock. She’s always ready to smile. Jill loves her big dogs, she has two, a Rottweiler and a Rhodesian Ridgeback. As a new resident in Lake Panamoka she is enjoying making improvements on her new home so don’t be surprised to find saw dust in her hair or paint splattered on her clothes. If you Can’t find Jill she’s most likely in the woods with her dogs, she knows her way around the trails of Brookhaven State Park better than she knows her way around her new neighborhood. Don’t ask for directions unless you’re wearing your hiking shoes.
She is happy to be teaching at Powerhouse and enjoys meeting new friends. wink emoticon
She believes friends are the family you meet along the way. Jill joined a gym at 21 and has been addicted to physical fitness ever since, though she’ll never admit how long that’s been. Her greatest accomplishment is walking away from a life that wasn’t authentic and creating one that is. She believes Happiness come from the heart. Jill is a 500hr certified Healing Movement trained teacher with her roots in Sivananda style yoga. In 2002 she “found herself” at Sivananda Ashram Yoga Ranch nestled in the NY Catskill mountains. She discovered yoga and a reconnection with nature; a reminder there is nothing to prove, only be and that we are all connected. With a strong desire to learn more she sought instruction on the yoga philosophy from Swami Sadasivananda at the Sivinanda Yoga Center in NY City. As her passion for yoga grew she realized there was a strong undercurrent of calm and balance in her life. Taking a long deep inhale she found the clarity and courage to begin a life true to herself and signed up for yoga teacher training. Her 500 hours of training includes an in depth study of anatomy, kinesiology, yoga as therapy, ayurvedic yoga, Thai bodywork and yoga nidra. Jill teaches an eclectic, playful down to earth style Vinyasa Yoga Mondays at 11:15. Bring a smile and your mat. Ohm Shanti
